TIBA Partnership | The Wash

The film is intentionally multidisciplinary combining various film approaches to appeal to different age groups and we have used for targeted health messages e.g. school children to demonstrate the importance of WASH for the control of waterborne diseases such as bilharzia (schistosomiasis), public health professionals to highlight the importance of taking behavioural aspects into account for disease control, and for development partners especially non-local partners to demonstrate the importance of context-relevant interventions co-produced with affected populations/end users.

Article | Behaviour change interventions for the control and elimination of schistosomiasis: A systematic review of evidence from low- and middle-income countries

This study reviewed peer-reviewed publications released before June 2021 to assess the effectiveness of BC projects in decreasing risk practices and disease prevalence. Projects used four approaches: health education (HEIs), social-environmental (SEIs), physical-environmental (PEIs), and incentives-centred interventions (ICIs).
