The group heard from Dr Amadou Garba Djirmay who gave an overview of the WHO criteria for verification of EPHP and elimination of transmission. Then Dr Amany Elhabashy, Undersecretary of Tropical Diseases and Vector Control Department, Ministry of Health and Population, shared Egypt's experience of driving down schistosomiasis infections, setting up, and implementing, strong surveillance and response systems and mainstreaming schistosomiasis in the health system.
